Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the BeerHandshake mobile application (the “App”) and the website at beercup.app (the “Site”), operated by an individual (natural person) trading as BeerHandshake (“we”, “us”, “Operator”), collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Data we collect
1.1. Sign-in data
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive and store:
- Email address — account identification and support;
- Display name — shown in rooms, pick lists, and results;
- Profile photo (avatar) — if provided by your sign-in provider; shown in the App UI.
We do not ask for a separate password — authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication and your chosen provider (Google / Apple).
1.2. App usage data
- Firebase user ID (UID);
- Humorous match predictions (“picks”), room membership, and in-app fun scores;
- App settings and account creation date.
This data is required to run the service and is stored in Cloud Firestore.
1.3. Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your FCM device token — a unique identifier linked to your device for delivery via Firebase Cloud Messaging. Examples: “picks are locked”, “match finished — see results”. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.
1.4. Technical data
- Device type, OS and app version (for crash diagnostics);
- Connection metadata in Firebase/Google infrastructure logs (e.g. IP address, request time) as permitted by those services.
2. Why we use your data
- Account registration, sign-in, and account management;
- Providing App features: rooms, predictions, results, invites;
- Sending optional service push notifications;
- Security and abuse prevention;
- Meeting App Store and Google Play requirements (including account deletion).
2.1. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
We process data based on:
- performance of our Terms of Service;
- your consent (e.g. push notifications where required);
- legitimate interests (security and service stability).
3. Who we share data with
We use these processors:
- Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging);
- Google / Apple — when you use their sign-in;
- Football match data providers — aggregated match data only, no personal user data.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Retention
Account and activity data is kept while your account is active. After you delete your account (see Section 6), we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, typically 30 days, except where law requires longer retention.
Push tokens are removed when you delete your account or revoke notification permission.
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures: TLS in transit, Firestore security rules, and trusted identity providers. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure — please report suspicious activity to us.
6. Your rights & account deletion
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, withdraw consent for notifications, or complain to a supervisory authority.
6.1. Delete your account in the App
Open Settings in the App and use Delete account. After confirmation, we delete your profile, notification token, and associated personal records in Firebase according to our procedures.
You may also email privacy@beercup.app from the address linked to your account.
7. Age
The App is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data — we will delete it.
8. International transfers
Firebase and Google services may process data outside your country, including the United States. Google applies appropriate safeguards as described in its policies.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy. The current version is always on this page; material changes may be announced in the App or by email.
